Office Academicals

Another win! We beat the "Self Razin' Squad" 4-1. Their goal was yet another own goal! Are goal difference is now scored 31, conceded 2 (both OGs by Simpson).
I had a relatively poor game again. There wasn't much space upfront, I kept getting dragged back into defence as their defender pushed up the pitch, and I was horribly flat footed at times.
Simpson had a big pair of blinkers on and kept running past their players and taking shots. and missing on the left of the goal!
We actually felt like we'd played a proper match today, as they gave us things to think about.

Parentals visit

Had a very good meal in San Carlo on Wednesday night. Parents, and their friend Sue spent the afternoon in Birmingham, and then met me for food.
Wasn't quite expecting Sue's onslaught over the Behtzi saga. She saw the fault being the all parties in the Council. Which is a view that anyone reading the national press could take. She's been bottling this one up for quite some time, and so was a robust and healthy debate. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy early on!
Was an opportunity to exchange gifts before the Parentals flew off to Egypt for a "holiday of a lifetime". My birthday presents were 2 CDs: Razorlight (Up All Night) and Snow Patrols first album (Songs for Polarbears). I passed on/recycled my old mobile phone (a 3 yr old nokia 8210), Parentals shocked that they'd become mobile phone owners!
Made it home safely, got the last train out of New St before the end of the England match at Villa Park. Have never seen quite so many Police at New St before!

Currently listening to...

The Killers is barely leaving my CD player atm. Have also just got Mull Historical Society's "This is Hope", its taking a few playings to get into this one, not as immediate as either of the first two.

Have just picked up Paddy's diaries, they've been sat on my shelf in my unread books pile for quite a while.

Am currently watching season 2 of Spooks, season 2 of ER and season 5 of Buffy.

My Garden Shed

4-1 to the Shed this evening in the Leisure Leagues Premier Division (Birmingham Sunday) against Rea Valley. A fine hatrick from Simpson, the first trickling over the line, with the 2nd drilled down the middle keeps the Shed in contention.

Office Academicals won 3 lost 0

Played all 30 mins of the game today, but failed to score in our 10-0 victory. Was a frustrating game given the opposition's lack of quality, the number of chances I had and everyone else getting on the scoresheet!
Need to get some practice in...

Welcome to my blog

An unoriginal title for a first posting.
The ideas and thoughts and notes that I'm going to post hear are still developing, but I'm going to try and keep it to the three P's: Politics, Photography and Phootball.
Politics: my political involvement and campaigning (as a Liberal Democrat, Birmingham City Councillor).
Photography: photos I like by other people, and photos I've taken. (bit of a semi-professional-hobby)
Football: definitely a hobby! Reporting back on My Garden Shed, and the Office Academicals, the two 6-a-side teams I'm involved with.
